C&Y Engineering Establishes Korea Branch to Support Korean Companies Expanding into the U.S. Market

C&Y Engineering (Chairman Hojin Yoon), the largest Korean-led structural design firm in the United States, has established a branch office in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. This move is intended to serve as a bridge for Korean global enterprises entering the North American market.
On April 17, C&Y Engineering held an opening ceremony at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu. The event was attended by approximately 50 industry and academic leaders, including Jin-chul Park (President of the Architectural Institute of Korea), Hong-gun Park (President of the Korean Society of Protective Structures), and Man-hee Han (Chairman of the International Contractors Association of Korea).
Expert Support for High-Tech Industrial Facilities
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, C&Y Engineering holds licenses in 40 U.S. states. The firm specializes in:
Structural design and permitting for advanced industrial facilities (Semiconductors, batteries, automobiles, tires, bio-tech, etc.).
Construction Management (PM/CM)
The company is a proven partner that has handled structural design and permitting for major Korean conglomerates, such as SK On, Hyundai Motor Group, and Kia, during the construction of their production hubs in North America.
Strategic Advantages: Speed and Communication
C&Y Engineering differentiates itself with:
Cost Efficiency: Competitive service fees compared to the U.S. industry average.
Speed: Design turnaround is over 50% faster thanks to their group of U.S. Professional Engineers (PE).
Optimized Communication: Tailored to the fast decision-making processes typical of Korean companies.
Risk Mitigation: Through collaboration with Boseong E&G Group, they provide integrated designs that comply with U.S. local codes from the initial stage, preventing costly design changes or reconstruction risks.
Bridging the Gap in Construction Culture
The Korea branch aims to bridge the gap between Korean and U.S. construction practices. Unlike Korea, where contractors often adjust flexibly on-site, the U.S. operates under the EOR (Engineer of Record) system. In this system, the licensed engineer holds full responsibility, and contractors cannot arbitrarily change approved drawings without risking massive financial losses.
Dohyoung Kim, CEO of C&Y Engineering Korea, stated:
"The Korea branch will be more than just a contact point; it will be an execution hub where customers feel tangible support. Based on 32 years of field experience, we will provide solutions that maximize customer interests starting from the investment review stage."
Young-min Kim, Senior Advisor at C&Y Engineering, added:
"We support companies with a wide range of benefits, from permitting to land, finance, and taxes. Small and medium-sized equipment and component suppliers, who may struggle to navigate these challenges alone, can significantly reduce trial and error by partnering with C&Y from the early stages."
